Challenge – Atlas Brew Works, a production craft brewery in Washington DC, has quickly established itself as a leading brewery in the DC metro area. Bates Creative has worked as Atlas’ agency of record since the conception of the branding of the brewery in 2013. When Atlas was in its infancy and managed by only three workers, Bates Creative worked with Atlas to launch its first website that was a social aggregator of automatically populated content posted through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. While the original website was a good solution for Atlas while it was still in start-up mode, the brand quickly grew to need a more robust website that could provide consumers, partners and fans more information about the brewery and its offerings.
Solution – Bates took a strategic look at how the original Atlas website could be redesigned to mirror the growth and maturity of the Atlas brand. The redesigned website is a graduation of the original design to a more esteemed and representative site that blends Atlas’ elements of steampunk aesthetics, art, science and of course, beer. Within the fully responsive website are sections rich with informational history, events, a beer Atlas and breakdowns of elements within the brand. Little nuances, graphics and play-on-words are woven throughout the website for an intricate and interactive appeal. With fans visiting the Atlas website while out at bars, restaurants, BBQs or even during a brewery tour, our design team ensured that the site was fully representative of the design and personality that Atlas fans have grown to identify with.
