Challenge – The Marines wanted to keep up with the times by adopting an interactive way to publish 100 Years of Marine Corps Aviation, a hardbound book consisting of more than 300 pages. Their goal: take static information off the printed page to create an exciting experience for their readers.
Solution – The Marines made a strategic decision: transfer the hardbound book into a digital publication. We used Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS), which gave our client an opportunity to engage with those interested in learning about the first 100 years of Marines aviation. We used an interactive timeline to create an Experience Under Glass for users, mirroring the same timeline presented in the printed piece. This timeline guides the reader through the history of aviation with icons and call-outs that showcase Marines who had received Medals of Honor during each decade. The digital publication makes it possible for readers to gain a deeper understanding of events by interacting with content that presents the first 100 years of the people, aircrafts, and events that formed Marines aviation.
