Challenge: The presence of mobile learning continues to grow in the field of education. This shift helped to solidify the National Education Association’s (NEA) decision to offer its flagship publication, NEA Today, as a tablet app. The organization determined the goals of the digital version, and selected Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) to create and deploy the magazine.
Solution: NEA partnered with Bates Creative to create a re-imagined magazine experience within a tablet environment. The structure and editorial content remained consistent with the print version of NEA Today. Bates Creative and NEA collaborated to bring new, exclusive interactive and multimedia content to the app to encourage users to engage and explore the magazine on their tablets. The app features content that is not available via the print edition, including videos that move users deeper into stories, links to social media, and other resources for NEA members. The NEA Today tablet app allows NEA to reach a wider audience of educators through digital distribution, grow the organization’s brand awareness, and increase the value of NEA membership.
