Account Director

Bates Creative, a Silver Spring-based creative brand experience agency, is looking to hire an enthusiastic, experienced Account Director who is excited to be part of a growing, fast paced strategic and creative team. The Account Director will be responsible for leading central communication with all of our clients and with our small internal core team.

  • Leads all Bates Creative clients in the development and implementation of strategic marketing, brand centric communications, creative assets and marketing plans
  • Owns our active client database and can respond to day-to-day management
  • Directs account team activities and assigns projects while taking on projects themselves as appropriate
  • Ensures the agency and strategy team produces measurable results for the client
  • Builds strong internal relationships that produce outstanding work with our vast creative teams
  • Ensures agency/client relationships are mutually profitable
  • Oversees client budgets and monthly billing
  • Trains, guides and mentors Account & Project Management team members
  • Develops presentation materials
  • Serve as primary client liaison, maintaining contact and developing positive, productive relationships with client(s)
  • Develops client communication strategy and clarifies client’s goals and objectives
  • Organizes all client meetings ongoing and independent and ensures that responsible groups are involved and alerted
  • Is thoughtful and interested in helping new business teams with ideas and support
  • Ensures client goals and objectives are communicated to appropriate agency departments via briefs, kick-off meetings, status check-ins, etc.
  • Develops strategic understanding of clients’ businesses, target markets and competition
  • Conceptualizes, proposes and directs projects to help reach client objectives
  • Communicates emerging trends and opportunities for improved marketing and advertising
    Guides the agency team in actively resolving client-related concerns
  • And most importantly, loves doing this kind of work, has an infectious and confident persona and is always interested in learning more about the industry to make our organization competitive and thereby making their role more impactful
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications; Master’s degree a plus
  • 5+ years of advertising account management, marketing or communications experience with large and small corporate clients
  • Works well in a collaborative team environment
  • Comfortable in an evolving role that requires innovative thinking
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Contributes to client meetings, creative brainstorms, and agency development
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic marketing, business and financial principles
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and digital advertising, marketing, public relations, corporate communications, and market research principles and practices
  • May require travel, overtime and attendance at client promotional and professional functions
  • Critical thinker with outstanding analytical capabilities
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to execute and juggle multiple end-to-end projects efficiently
  • Proficient in Google Docs (and other cloud based tools), Microsoft Office, and Apple products such as Keynote and Pages (a plus)
