Production Artist

Bates Creative, a Silver Spring-based creative and brand experience agency, is looking to hire an enthusiastic, experienced Production Artist who is excited to be part of a growing, fast-paced strategic and creative team.

The Production Artist is responsible for the tactical production of projects, in support of the creative team, to ensure all requirements meet customer specifications. On a daily basis, the Production Artist will flow and style content for publications and collateral, assist with corrections for print and digital projects, and prepare final files to specification for our vendors and clients.

The Position
  • This position reports to the Creative Director
  • 3+ years relevant industry-related applied experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Experience in an Mac environment
  • Strong working knowledge in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Experience in pre-press, PMS and color management, raster and vector formats
  • Working knowledge of font usage and management
  • Knowledge of design and typographic principles for print and digital
  • Possess a strong work ethic and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Work independently with minimal guidance
  • Excellent in organization and communication skills
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with design team to execute production-ready artwork, proofs, and digital files
  • Flow, style, and edit content for publication layout using Master Pages and Style Sheets
  • Import content from supplied files into production software applications
  • Deliver final files to meet various specifications and formats
  • Creation and styling of tables and graphs as needed
  • Image and photo touch-ups and manipulation as needed
  • Create proofs or PDFs for internal and client reviews
  • Pre-flight and Quality Assurance for incoming and outgoing files
  • Work with Account Management team to ensure tasks are being completed on time
  • Resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
  • Ensures adherence to all quality-control processes and procedures
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all software, equipment, and work techniques
  • Authorized to work in the United States (Required)
  • Experience with cross-channel content workflows, such XML tagging for InDesign, is a plus
