Bates Creative is honored to receive two w3 awards out of a pool of top-tiered competitors for its design and development of the Atlas Brew Works and SageWater websites, both of which launched in 2015. The w3 Awards honors creative excellence on the web for Fortune 500 companies, international agencies, small firms and everyone in between.

Bates Creative has received w3 awards in back-to-back years for its user-friendly and engaging website design. In 2015, Bates Creative received two w3 awards for the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington’s (YMCADC) Annual Report Website.

This year, Bates Creative has been recognized as an award winner for the following:

  • Gold w3 Award in General Website Categories-Food and Beverage: Atlas Brew Works Website

  • Silver w3 Award in General Website Categories-Construction: SageWater Website

The Atlas Brew Works website is an upgrade from its previous, social-media driven website Bates Creative developed for the team to easily manage as a start-up business. Fast forward two and a half years and the teams at Bates Creative and Atlas Brew Works regrouped to plan for a fully responsive website presence that reflects the growth and maturity of the Atlas Brew Works brand.

“People have loved the brand since day one,” said Atlas Brew Works Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Justin Cox. “They love it just as much as we do—it’s interesting, unique, very strong and bold and people really relate to that.”

The redesigned website is a graduation to a more esteemed and representative site that blends Atlas’ elements of steampunk aesthetics, art, science and of course, beer.

Bates Creative took the same approach of implementing a new brand aesthetic into a more robust and responsive website for SageWater. SageWater deviated from its content heavy and technical past by working with Bates Creative to design its website with a new green and blue brand color palette complimented with clean white space. Design elements of customized iconography, photography, typography and colors wrap up SageWater’s cohesive website redesign.

“We are starting to see a good response on the website,” said SageWater Chief Marketing Officer, Eric Lecky. “We’re literally getting calls from clients saying, ‘We’ve seen the new website and it looks terrific!’”

Both Atlas Brew Works and SageWater now have engaging website presences that showcase each brand’s authentic identities. The full list of 2016 w3 Awards winners can be viewed on the awards website.
