As Art Director, Emily pushes the boundaries on experiential design and encourages others to do the same. Things are always fresh and never stagnant. And if she can use gold foil in any way, shape or form, everyone wins.
Emily’s international exhibiting artistry transforms her branding, digital and print projects—it’s evident she has an artistic touch that extends far beyond computer screens. Not only does she believe it’s her responsibility as a maker and designer to fulfill clients’ goals, but to also give them the best possible solution for their identity.
Emily’s rise from a designer to art director at Bates Creative is a testament to her total immersion in the ever-changing creative industry. She understands how the unity of strategy, design and content is paving the progressive nature of her trade. And when it comes to the business-side of the business, Emily sees budgets through a creative lens rather than crunching numbers—challenging the team to deliver high-quality results in a smart and refined way.
Emily has also served as an adjunct professor for studio experience at American University, a graphic design professor at McDaniel College, and has taught color theory and application at Montgomery College. In addition to her studies and experience, Emily was a featured artist in the Luce Artist Talk series at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
