Bates Creative President Debbie Bates-Schrott is speaking at Florida Magazine Association’s 60th Annual Publishing Conference & Expo August 1-2, 2013. A well-known thought-leader to FMA members, Debbie has spoken at the association’s Annual Publishing Conference & Expo for the past several years.

FMA is the largest state magazine association in the nation and has a membership of more than 200 publishing professionals. The theme for the 60th Annual is Turn the Page, a nod to the publishing industry that never stops turning the page when it comes to strategies and innovations. FMA writes on its website, “FMA members are eager to stay on the cutting edge of everything from technological advances and digital trends to print possibilities and winning sales/marketing formulas. And those are the very pages we’ll be turning at this year’s conference.”

Storytelling through Design and Type

The first session Debbie will be presenting is Storytelling through Design and Type on Thursday, August 1st from 4:15 to 5:00pm. The session will focus on how design and typography can be used to tell publishers’ stories. At Bates Creative we know that good design=good business, Debbie will talk about the value of distinctive design and how it benefits businesses. During the session she will share some well-known examples from the industry as well as examples from Bates Creative client projects.

Bring Your Magazine to Life: From InDesign to Adobe DPS

On Friday, August 2nd at 2:00pm, Debbie will be co-presenting with Mark Poulalion, Digital Publishing Solution Consultant at Adobe. The session, Bring Your Magazine to Life: From InDesign to Adobe DPS, will focus on the strategic process behind transforming a print publication to digital using Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) product. Bates Creative is an Adobe DPS Agency Partner and leverages DPS for clients the U.S. Marine Corps and Heifer International.
